Books are a huge part of the experience. Thousands of gently used books will fill the shop’s shelves, covering a wide variety of genres, subjects and interests. But Book & Cranny was never intended to be just a bookstore. Throughout the shop, visitors will discover vintage and antique furniture, artwork, jewelry, ephemera, decorative objects, unusual collectibles and one-of-a-kind pieces gathered from different places and eras. Some are valuable. Some are quirky. Some are simply beautiful. And quite a few may leave you wondering exactly what they are—which, at Book & Cranny, is part of the fun.

The shop itself is also part of the experience. Every bookcase at Book & Cranny has been custom-built for the space by a local finish carpenter and longtime family friend, adding another layer of craftsmanship and character to a shop where very little is ordinary or off-the-shelf.  In the main “Cranny” room, a whimsical three-dimensional painted door creates the illusion that another world might be waiting just beyond it. Nearby, a vintage mantel and fireplace vignette provide a changing backdrop for merchandise and seasonal displays while giving customers ideas for incorporating vintage pieces into their own homes. An antique crank wall telephone, tucked-away details and other surprises add to the feeling that this is a shop meant to be explored rather than simply walked through.
